Emma Davis Doughtie, 77, of 218 Driftwood Lane, Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

Mrs. Doughtie was a native of Warren County, the daughter of the late Clyde Alexander Davis and Ruby Parker Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas "GT" Doughtie, Jr. and also by two sisters, Dorothy Robinson and Frances Wooten.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth D. Edwards and her husband, Greg, of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Carl "Rabbit" Doughtie and his wife, Brenda Caswell, and Todd Doughtie all of Roanoke Rapids; three grandchildren, Shane Doughtie, Ryan Edwards and Kendall Edwards; four sisters, Bessie Hardy and Helen Gathright, both of Roanoke Rapids, Ruby Newsome of Littleton, and Evelyn Shaffer, also of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, Robert Davis of Richmond, VA; a special niece, Debbie Hopkins of Roanoke Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Kirk Taylor III officiating.
